PROTEIN. The most important ingredient in a cat's diet is protein. Cats require animal protein in their diets at TWICE the level of dogs. Cats are true carnivores and the majority of their diet must be of animal origin.
TAURINE. FLINT RIVER RANCH'S high quality chicken meal provides Taurine at much higher levels than the poultry by-products used in most cat foods. Taurine is an essential amino acid in a cat's diet. It is important for eyes, heart, nervous, and reproductive systems. Taurine can only be found in animal protein and if it is deficient in the diet, it results in retinal degeneration and heart failure.
FATS. The human-grade fat source in FLINT RIVER RANCH natural cat food has no ethoxyquin or any other chemical preservative. It is naturally preserved with Vitamin E. Fats provide energy and includes essentials for cell structure, hormones, enzymes and fat soluble vitamins. High levels of propylene glycol, a chemical preservative in semi-moist cat foods, will cause abnormalities in the cat's red blood cells.
FELINE UROLOGICAL SYNDROME. (F.U.S.) There is little doubt that F.U.S. is directly related to a cat's lifestyle and diet. Low ash and Magnesium are important in the prevention of F.U.S. FLINT RIVER RANCH Cat and Kitten Food has less than 4.5% ash content and magnesium level of 0.08%. This promotes low urinary PH and helps prevent feline urological syndrome.
